Download from the web site 

To start a web site download; go to the download area of this site and click on the link, or visit the website of your favourite retailer and go to the photobook section. You will have the choice of two download options: either you can save the software onto your hard drive and then install the software manually in a seperate step or for simplicity you can opt to have the installation take place automatically once the download has been completed.

a) Save software and opt for a manual installation process

Save the software "Klick_PhotoBook.exe" on your desktop. Start the installation process by double clicking on "Klick_PhotoBook.exe" (on your desktop. Follow the Photo Book Setup Assistant's directions. Once the installation has sucessfully been completed you can start compiling your Photo Book.

b)Save software and opt for an automatic installation.

Click on "Open" , in order to start the dowload process. The Photo Book Setup Asssistant will open automatically. Follow the directions. Once the installation has been successfully completed you can begin compiling your Photo Book.

System Requirements

The Photo Book software runs on the following Windows Operating Systems 2000, XP and Vista. You will need at least 128 MB working memory (RAM). Please note that you will need approx. 1,5 Megabyte memory to install the Photo Book software.

Create Photo Book / Edit Photo Book

Create Photo Book

To start creating your Photo Book click on the "Klick_PhotoBook" icon on your desktop. The first page of the Photo Book software shows the 4 Photo Book sizes. Once you have made your selection and have clicked on the button "Create Photo Book" you will proceed to the Photo Book Assistant on the next page. You can use the Photo Book Assistant to help you take the first steps, e.g. selecting a cover colour, selecting a title image, backgrounds, layouts and images. If you wish to proceed without the Photo Book Assistant, click on the button "No". You're ready to start.....

Edit Photo Book

The function "Edit Photo Book" is also found on the first page of the software and can be used by those who have already started to create a Photo Book and who wish to proceed with their compilation. You can change any alterations made during a Photo Book session onto your hard drive! Ideal for editing Photo Books, e.g. adding text or inserting more images.

Delivery times 

A Photo Book will usually be dispatched within five working days in addition to postal delivery times.

Working with the Photo Book Assistant 

The Photo Book Assistant helps you select a cover colour, a title image, backgrounds, layouts and images. The Assistant can also assist you when making changes to settings.
 

Select cover colour 

Select the colour of your choice from one of the three colours available. Select the colour using your mouse and proceed to the next step by clicking on the button "Continue".

Select cover title and image 

Enter your Photo Book title. The text field can be found in the upper sofware window. Then select a title image. Make your selection from the window on the left which will display all images on your hard drive. Select the appropirate folder. Once you have marked the folder, all images found in the folder will be displayed. Mark the image you wish to use and then proceed by clicking on the "Continue" button.

Background selection 

This page displays the background suggestions for your Photo Book pages. Once you have selected and marked a background, proceed to the layout selection by clicking on the "Continue" button.

Layout selection 

Decide how many images required per page. Layout suggestions will be displayed accordingly. You will be able to make changes to this selection at a later time. It is possible to manually insert various layout styles, however to make use of the Photo Book Assistant you need to make a preliminary selection now.

Insert images into the Photo Book 

This window shows you the contents of your hard drive. The progress bars under End how many pages will be filled by the images you have selected and how many still remain empty. To select the sequence your images will be instered into the Photo Book you have two options: You can sort your images by date or by name. Once you have marked a folder the green scale will show how many pages have been filled. The pages will be filled once you have clicked on the button "Instert Folder". If any empty pages remain you can click onto an additional folder and insert more images. Should you wish to insert images from a different folder, click on the button "Remove Last Folder" and then add the new folder. This is the last step you will take with the Photo Book Assistant.

Working with the Photo Book Editor 

The Photo Book Editor overview shows all important functions needed to edit your Photo Book. The working area is in the middle of the window and to the right is the tool bar. When starting the software the cover is displayed in the working area. To the left are the colour selections for the cover and above are the tabs "Colour", "Layouts" and "Image Selection". These tabs are available when making changes to the Photo Book cover. Above the work area the pages of the Photo Book are displayed. These pages will either be empty or full depending on whether you have used the Photo Book Assistant or not.

Select cover colour 

To the left of the work area are various colour selections for the Photo Book cover. Mark a colour and use either a mouse click or drag and drop the selection onto the work area to activate your selection.

Select cover layout 

To do this click on the tab "Layouts" to the right of the work area and select a layout for the title image of your Photo Book. Use either a double click or the drag and drop method to activate your selection.

Select and insert title image 

The tab "Image Selection" to the right of the work area will take you to your hard drive. Once you have selected an image folder, the images will appear in the column on the left. Mark the image you wish to select and click on the button "Adopt selected image". You can also make your selection by using a double click or by using the drag and drop method and dragging the image onto the Photo Book layout.

Creating Photo Book pages 

Once you have created the cover page you can start creating the Photo Book pages. First select a background and then a layout and then insert the images. Click through the pages (arrow button in the tool bar) or mark a page in the page overview (found above the work area) and this page will be displayed in the work area and can now be edited.

Selecting backgrounds for Photo Book pages 

Click on the tab "Backgrounds"as when creating the Photo Book cover. A large selection of backgrounds will appear in the column to the left. Mark a background and either use a double click or the drag and drop method to activate your selection.You can subsitute a different background at any time.

Selecting layouts for Photo Book pages 

Click on the tab "Layouts" to the right of the work area and make your selection. Activate this selection by using either the drag and drop method or a double mouse click. You may change substitue a new layout at any time.

Inserting images into the Photo Book pages 

A click on the tab "Image selection" to the right of the work area will take you to your hard drive. Once you have selected a folder, the images in the folder will be displayed. Insert your images by making use of one of the following methods; click on the button "Adopt selected images", a double mouse click or by using the drag and drop method.

Editing photos in your Photo Book 

It is possible to edit the images you have placed in your Photo Book.Click on the photo you wish to edit. The editing functions can be found in the tool bar:

    * cropping by using the zoom + and - buttons. The quality indicator to the right of the tool bar will show you the effect of your editing on the image print quality.
    * Moving an image crop with the arrow symbol in the tool bar.
    * Individual editing of the image using the edit funtion in the tool bar.
    * By activating the function "free placement" (click in the box) you will be able to change the size of your image on the page and move it around the page feely.

Quality indicator 

Once you have insterted your images into the Photo Book the quality indicator in the tool bar shows you if the image resolution is sufficient for the size of the image selected in the layout. Click onto the image once to activate the quality indicator. The indicator will also show you whether an image crop has had an adverse effect on the image quality.

    * Dark green: excellent - the image resolution is ideally suited to the image size.
    * Light green: Good - the image is suitable for the selected image size. Small image quality losses may be encurred.
    * Yellow: adequate - the image does not meet the highest standards of image quality.
    * Orange: Acceptable quality - the losses in image quality will be visible.
    * Dark red: Inadequate - the image is not suitable for the image size selected.

Tool Bar 

The tool bar (to the right of the work area) displays the tools at your disposal for editing and altering your images. Whether you wish to

    * crop an image,
    * reduce the image,
    * move the image within the layout,
    * rotate the image or text,
    * insert text or edit the images,

you'll be able to try out all the funtions on offer.

Free placement 

The function "Free placement" allows you to move and rotate text and images within the Photo Book page. Activate the function by clicking the box "Free placement", mark the image or text field and rotate the field using the arrows. To insert a text field click on the button "Insert text" and an empty field will appear. This function allows you to give your Photo Book a unique touch!

Insert text 

Add comments or labels to your images using the "Insert text" function. This function is only available once the tool "Free placement" has been activated. Once you have clicked on the button "Insert text" a text field will appear on the page.

You can move this field around the page by clicking onto the field with your mouse and keeping the mouse button pressed down while moving the field. You can also increase or decrease the size of the field by clicking onto one of the six dots around the edge of the field, hold the mouse button down and alter the length, breadth or height of the text field.

Click onto the red dot at the top of the field to rotate the field.

Once your text field is in the right position, insert your text. To do this double click on the middle of the field, a new window will appear and you will be able to insert your text into this field. You can select the font type, size and colour and the position of the text in the field.

Edit images

This function allows you to make changes to your images. Click on the "Edit" button to activate the function.

The following functions will appear on the left of the page:

"remove red eyes"
This function will allow you to remove or at least reduce the red eye effect on photos. Use the mouse to mark the effected areas and click on the remove red eyes symbol.

"Rotate 90°"
will rotate the image 90°.

"Select crop"
This function enables you to select the area of the image you wish to be printed. Mark the area with your mouse and click on the button

"Discribe"
The areas outside of the frame will be discarded.

"Add comments"
This function enables you to add comments to your images. Once you have entered your text and selected a font type and font colour you will be able to place your comments within your image.

"Colour gradient"
This function will add an artistic element to your image.

"Mosaic effect"
will add a further artistic dimension to your image.

"Negative look"
This function will reverse the colours in your image.

To the right are the following functions:

" Reduce/Increase (-/+) This will increase or decrease the image size on the screen but will not effect the image size in the Photo Book.

"Sharpness", "Lightness", "Contrastt"
should your image not be sharp enough, be too light or too dark or not have enough contrast, you can use the +/- symbols to correct these errors.

"Auto Contrast"
This function will optimize the contrast of your image automatically.

"Go back"
Use this function to reverse an unwanted step.

Should you want to go back more than one step, you can increase the number of steps in the software under the menu "Optioins". The standard setting is for 5 steps.

Text area warning

A warning will appear if you have entered too much text into your text field. Please heed this warning as the text will not be printed in its entirety. You will be able to avoid this by increasing the size of your text field. Activate the function "Free placement", then click on the red dot and use the mouse to increase your text field. You could also opt to decrease the font size. To do this make a double click in the text field to activate the editor. You will now be able to reduce the font size.

Preview function 

This function shows you what the printed version of your Photo Book will look like.The "Preview" button can be found under the work area in the Photo Book Editor. Use the arrows to page through the book. To make additional changes to the Photo Book, click on the button "Edit Photo Book" to return to the Photo Book Editor.

Order 

Once you have created your Photo Book you will want to proceed to the order process. Click on the button "Order Photo Book" to start the order process. Once you have clicked on the button you will be requested to save your Photo Book before placing it in the shopping cart. Click on "Yes". Your book will saved onto your hard drive. Once this has taken place, the shopping cart will be displayed.

Shopping cart 

The shopping cart overview is on the left. It displays the quantity, size and price of your Photo Book and of the complete order. You may alter the quantity of products ordered. The price will automatically be recalculated.

You can also return to the Photo Book Editor and make changes to your Photo Book by using the tool symbol. To add a further Photo Book click on the button "Add product".

You will find yourself back in the Photo Book software and can either compile a new Photo Book or add a previously saved one. Add the uploaded book to the shopping cart by clicking on the "Order" button.

Manage shopping cart 

The function "Manage shopping cart" enables you to load, save or delete shopping carts. These options are displayed in the selection window.

"Load shopping cart" - once you have loaded a shopping cart you can make changes to it and add your current shopping cart to the list.
"Save shopping cart" - Enables you to save your current shopping cart and then make additions to it at a later date, e.g. adding images to your order etc.

"Delete shopping cart" - To delete a shopping cart you must load it and then delete it. Please note that the image date contained n this shopping cart will then be deleted!

Burn Photo Book onto a CD 

The Photo Book Software will recognise your burner. Place an empty CD in the drive and click on refresh to check the status. The burn function is activated by clicking on the "Burn" button.

If you are using a multi-session CD you may now proceed. This makes it possible to burn more than one order on to the CD. If you are using a rewritable CD and there is not enough space on the CD, click on the button "Delete CD". This function only applies to burners that recognise rewritable CD's.

Order Photo Book online 

As an alternative you can also transmit your order online. Should you have a slow internet connection you can reduce the transfer time by using the JPEG2000 option. Image quality is not normally effected by this process, however text and drawings can experience slight quality losses. If you have already compressed your images then we do not recommend using the JPEG2000 process.

Registration 

To place an order you must sign on or - should you not have a user account - register. Click on the button "Register" on the left and enter your address, password and secret question. The user name is always your e-mail address. You select your password and the secret question.

You will have to answer this question if you lose your password and request a new one. This is done in order to verify that you are the user. Please do not pass on this information to anyone else. Secret question example: What is my mothers maiden name? Secret answer? Smith. Should you forget your password, then click on the link "Forgotten your password". Your secret question will be displayed and you will be requested to enter the answer. The new password will be sent to your e-mail account within minutes and you will be able to sign on using it.

Sign on 

Enter your user name which is your e-mail address and your password. Then select your local branch. Your Photo Book will be sent to this branch for collection. Click on "Continue". The next page shows you an overview of your order and the branch where you will collect the order. Please accept the general terms and conditions before placing your order. Once you have done this your order number will be generated. You will also receive an order confirmation via e-mail. You will be sent a second mail when your Photo Book has been completed - usually within 5 working days.
